For the two summers of 2021 and 2022, I interned at Cameron Engineering and Associates, LLC, (now an IMEG company) where I gained first hand experience with professional engineering. I performed structural and energy analysis, produced documentation and drawings for HVAC/MEP systems, and collected data from onsite project locations, including some under active construction!
In the summer of 2024 I had the amazing opportunity to be a Show Controls intern at Universal Creative. As part of a project team, I worked on show action equipment, audio/visual elements, special effects, and animated figures featured in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic (both land and attraction), coming to Universal’s Epic Universe.
I worked alongside both Universal Creative engineers, technicians, and vendor/manufacturers to help install, commission, and test several automated systems. As part of these efforts, I gained hands-on experience working with PLCs (Beckhoff, Siemens, e.g.), Sub-System Controllers, show programming, and mechanical systems.
I also had the privilege to serve as an intern for the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) with their Show Ambassador program! As my first front line role, this position taught me about dedication, resilience, quick/creative thinking, and confidence.
As a part of the IAAPA operational team, I helped organize a record breaking 37,066 attendees. The Ambassador program was a uniquely insightful, educational, and expansive experience for me. Whether it was managing huge crowds for the Opening Ceremonies, facilitating EDUSessions on the industry's upcoming developments, or being a friendly face for the special event attendees, I found new perspectives every step of the way.
